Dry Needling

WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?

Dry needling, sometimes called myofascial trigger point dry needling, is the use of fine needles (the same needles used in acupuncture) for the treatment of muscle pain and myofascial pain.

A needle is inserted into the muscle to assist with decreasing pain and improving function through the release of myofascial trigger points (knots in the muscle).

Dry needling can be used for a wide variety of musculoskeletal issues such as shoulder, neck, heel, hip and back pain. Research indicates dry needling is a safe and effective approach for treating and managing pain.

IS IT SAFE?

Dry needling is safe, minimally discomforting and often an effective technique for patients with certain musculoskeletal presentations. Dry needling is a treatment performed by skilled and qualified therapists. Our resident Osteopath’s, Dr. Thomas Jacotine and Dr. Stephania Tsotras are qualified to the highest standard and have been using this technique for a minimum 2 years.

WHAT CAN IT DO FOR ME?

Dry needling treats muscle tissue to reduce pain, deactivate trigger points and restore function. It is rarely a stand alone procedure and is often part of a broader natural approach.
